Every licensed California hospital, audited

California has 408 licensed acute care hospitals (the state's own list, refreshed September 20, 2026). So far we have checked 405 of them; here is where each one stands. 227 are covered by a residency program we track, 34 have a program we list that is not read automatically right now, 144 had no publicly advertised new grad RN residency the last time we looked, and 3 are still being verified.

Today we list 137 programs. 1 open right now. We have checked 405 of all 408 licensed California hospitals against the state's own list, and counting.

"No residency found" means exactly that: none advertised publicly when we checked. Hospitals sometimes hire new grads internally, through a parent health system, or in short unannounced windows. Once every hospital has been asked, each one is asked again over time: a light check of its page about every 30 days, and a full search again every 6 months (once a year for the smallest rural hospitals). We read the program pages we watch every day, usually several times. Know something we missed? Tell us on the programs page.

Don't want to keep checking?

Between exams, clinicals and the NCLEX, nobody has time to refresh hospital careers pages. We'll email you the day a program opens in your area, for the programs we can monitor. Alerts are free, one click to unsubscribe.

Your regions and degree come next, so we send the programs that match them.
